Marie shaking hands with South Jordan Council Members
9-7-08
Our lives are back to the routine of school now. We did enjoy a break from school on Labor Day, but we were busy with projects. Marie helped the YW set up the flags around the neighborhood, Ron did homework, and I was busy with chores around the house. We continue to enjoy the cooler fall weather!
Marie was sworn in as a member of the South Jordan Youth Council at the South Jordan City Council on Tuesday. She will be involved with doing service projects each month and also a monthly meeting where she will learn more about being a good citizen. I’m sure that she will enjoy this experience and make new friends. On Saturday she had her first lacrosse practice after a month off. Her team is getting ready for a tournament that will take place in Las Vegas on Thanksgiving weekend. Besides school she is staying busy with work! On the weekends she is busy doing things with her friends! Today she was set apart as 1st counselor in the Laurel class presidency. Yes, her life is busy!!!
Savanna is enjoying her classes at BYU. She came home on Saturday to pick up some books and do wash. We enjoy having Savanna come home to visit! She is looking forward to her next experience in the classroom; this will take place the middle of October!
Ron finished up his experience as an assistant principal at Heartland Elementary on Thursday. His eyes were opened to some administrative experiences during the 3 weeks that he was there. He enjoyed returning to his former school and being able to help out many students and teachers. Tomorrow he will return to his 4th grade classroom at Elk Meadows Elementary! I think he is looking forward to dressing more casually; he prefers wearing polo shirts and not ties!
The textbooks are now all checked out and now I will begin doing orientations for the sophomores. Skyline lost its first football game on Friday, so I’m sure that there will be some sad faces at school tomorrow….
It was an exciting week for our football teams! BYU won by blocking the extra point again Washington during the final seconds on Saturday. What an exciting game!!!! Ron was thrilled that Utah won their football game against UNLV, and Marie was also thrilled that Bingham won their first football game. We are looking forward to going to see Bingham play their first home football game on their new field this coming Friday night, and then on Saturday Marie and I will head down to Provo to watch BYU play against UCLA. Thanks to Jim for giving us his tickets!!!! Marie and I are exciting to see BYU’s new kicker Justin Sorenson play. Justin graduated from Bingham High School last year!
We also enjoyed watching the Republican National Convention this past week. Ron and I were impressed with the speeches by Sarah Palin and John McCain. These last final weeks will be interesting; I am looking forward to the upcoming debates.
That is the update for our family this week. Enjoy !!!!
